For twelve centuries, the Godshards have dwelt in the mortal realms. They are humans whose souls have merged with fragments of their fallen God. Long have they been the exemplars and heroes of humanity. But times are changing and the Godshards are being kidnapped by Daemons, leaving chaos and turmoil in their wake.

Mercenary Lieutenant Leo finds himself front and center in the conspiracy when the Godshard Maga he is tasked with protecting is in their sights. They must travel to the Island City, an ancient and sacred place to all Godshards in the vain hope he can find a way to save her. He is reluctantly joined by his best friend Martin, his bitter old flame Elizabeth, the Godshardling Annabelle, the powerful Godshard Etheros and Petro, one of the Benelim.

They have to settle their differences and work together, if they want any chance to save the Godshards before it is too late.

Author Note:​

This is a high fantasy concept story I've wanted to work on for a long time now. Many know me from my work on Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD or from SVA. I have always had a love of both historical and high fantasy content. This story combines my love of both.

Godshards is heavily inspired by late Medieval Italy, from the soldiers of the Cradlelands, to its towns and cities to its language. I desire to create something that stands out from other high fantasy stories through this avenue. 

I also strive to create a story that is not just high paced swash-buckling action, but character driven where everyone has something unique and special about them. Godshards is about identity, about finding out who they are. Everyone has their own struggles, their own stories and their own courage.

I hope that my work can inspire others like those who inspired me. -Peter C.

The Six Strangers

  • Leo

    Leo is a capable fighter and a rising star in the famed mercenary company: The Guardia Grifone. But when he is tasked with guarding the powerful Godshard, Avella, he finds that is a different task altogether! Leo has a heart of gold. He isn't the smartest guy in the room, although he definitely isn't stupid. He is just a man who wants to make the world a better place.

    Whether he is ready or not, opportunity comes to his doorstep when he is tasked with guarding Avella.

  • Elizabeth

    Elizabeth hails from the Northern Kingdoms. She is a grim and cold woman, impulsive with a short temper. Beneath her hard exterior however, is a woman who is unflinching loyal and caring to those few that she trusts.

    Elizabeth gets roped into the conspiracy surrounding the disappearing Godshards when she must travel to the Island City to keep Annabelle safe, all while being with Leo, the man who broke her heart.

    Will she be able to stay focused on the task at hand or will her short temper get the better of her?

  • Annabelle

    Annabelle hails from the Novalands, a place slightly southeast of the Cradlelands and part of the Triad. She is a Shardling, which is a lesser Godshard with only one power and less control over their more passive abilities, such as Soulsight. Annabelle, like Elizabeth, is roped into the conspiracy when Etheros lands in their living room. Despite the odds, Annabelle tries her best to heal him, but he is fading fast.

    Will she be able to hold out long enough til Leo and Avella arrive? Or will her issues consume her at last?

  • Etheros

    Etheros is a free-spirited nomad and  a powerful Godshard. He has a magical leaning toward alchemy and transmutation. For two centuries he has helped the distant Empire of Yanneros with his words of wisdom and his magical prowess.

    So when he crash lands in Tressviae, half the world away, badly injured and clinging to life, the scope of the peril that is afflicting the world begins to set in...

  • Petro

    Petro is one of the Benelim, an off-shoot race of Nephilim nearly human in size. They have a strong bond with nature and are nearly ageless and fair. He is a ship captain of the Realm of the Golden Wood and a brave warrior.

    While distrusting of humans, he has a strong sense of honor. When Leo and Avella seek his help to get back to Tressviae, what starts out as a simple escort turns into an adventure of a lifetime.

  • Martin

    Martin is Leo's best friend, He is scholar and a teacher, content to spend his days in his study, reading books and acquiring knowledge. He longs to get access to Island City, a place with one of the greatest libraries in the world.

    When he wakes up in the same wagon that Leo and the others are using to travel to the Island City, Martin will discover truths and hardships a person cannot find in books and studies...
